History seems to murmur louder in a city when the trees lose their leaves and on rainy days or winter evenings like this one. This is the historic Trinity Church in Lower Manhattan. Until 1869 it was the tallest building in the US. Another fun fact: Eliza Hamilton (and her husband) are buried in the churchyard. But I painted it because I love the old sycamores which stand protectively nearby.
